Arrowhead Elementary School kindergarten and first grade students had a special treat when the school welcomed Ward Melville High School math teacher and newly published author Cheryl Taborsky as part of the high school library’s “Author in Residence” series.

During the event, Ms. Taborsky read her book “Sarge,” a story about what it means to be a puppy raiser for a service dog. The students marveled knowing that Ms. Taborsky not only penned the book, but also illustrated it. After enjoying the story, the students helped to make dog treats for a local animal shelter.
