Music In Our Schools Month

Music In Our Schools Month can be heard across the Three Village Central School District. The celebrations raise awareness about the importance and value of music education for all children.

The Tri-M Music Honor Society has held its annual Music Without Borders program every Wednesday of March. The event pairs high school musicians with students from the district’s elementary and junior high schools for 30-minute instrument lessons. The lessons are open-ended with students receiving help on whatever they choose including NYSSMA performances, school ensemble music or upcoming auditions. The younger students are eager to receive individualized support and engage with older student-musicians who serve as role models.

The district’s celebrations continued this month with Sunday at Symphony presented by the Ward Melville Honors Orchestra. This ensemble featured works from popular composers and movies including “Star Wars” and “Encanto.” Ahead of the event on March 24, the Honors Orchestra held a concert for third graders in the district. The elementary students were introduced to all of the instrument families in the performance.
