Murphy Students Honored in Scholastic Awards

Six students from Murphy Junior High School in the Three Village Central School District have received a regional honor in the 2024 Scholastic Art and Writing Awards. The recognition program is the nation’s longest running for creative teens. Only the top 2-15% of the 250,000 entries from around the country received awards.

Congratulations to the following students who submitted works of flash fiction writing:

* Amartya Das: Gold Key for “Suspended Under the Cruel Stars”
* Maeve McKay: Silver Key for “Ink Stained Memories”
* Sabrina Fung: Honorable Mention for “Black and White”
* Jiwoo Han: Honorable Mention for “Terror of the Needle”
* Olivia Monticciolo Honorable Mention for “Forgotten Twin”
* Alyssa Puliese: Honorable Mention for “Unbounded”

As a Gold Key award winner, Amartya will advance to the national competition. The national award entries are considered for a Gold Medal, Silver Medal or scholarship award.
