Mrs. Murray’s fourth graders at Nassakeag Elementary School welcomed two parents into the classroom to learn about Ramadan and Eid Al Fitr. The parents read two books, “It’s Ramadan, Curious George,” by Hena Khan and “Ramadan – Celebrate the World,” by Hannah Eliot.

Each book explained Ramadan and Eid, and the parents spoke about why those who celebrate fast during this time. They went on to explain how the festive day of Eid is celebrated. The parents distributed lanterns, a symbol of Ramadan, and goodie bags filled with toys and candy to share the joy the holiday brings.
