New Ward Melville High School Principal

The Three Village Central School District is excited to welcome John Holownia as the new principal of Ward Melville High School, effective July 1. Mr. Holownia was appointed to the position at the April 3 Board of Education meeting.

Mr. Holownia comes to Three Village from the Shoreham-Wading River Central School District where he has served as high school assistant principal since 2019. In this role, Mr. Holownia was the assistant instructional leader of the building, supporting hundreds of students and staff members. He conducted professional performance reviews, collaborated with the building principal on scheduling, and monitored the social-emotional wellbeing and academic progress of students. Prior to his administrative experience, Mr. Holownia was a special education teacher in the Comsewogue Union Free School District.

Mr. Holownia is returning to his roots, as he is a Class of 1999 Ward Melville High School graduate. He earned his bachelor’s degree from Princeton University, his master’s degree from Hofstra University and an advanced certificate in educational leadership from Stony Brook University. Additionally, Mr. Holownia holds building and district leader certifications.
