Students at several of our elementary schools put their math skills to the test through the virtual First In Math Regional Contest. The competition focuses on the 24 Game series featured in First In Math Skill Sets. The games test critical math skills including fact fluency, automaticity, problem solving and procedural fluency.

Going into the tournament, Nassakeag Elementary School and Setauket Elementary School were ranked fourth and sixth in the state, respectively, based on participation and stickers earned through the First In Math program.

The virtual competition serves as a qualifier for the statewide championship event in Albany on June 1. At the state tournament, students will use game cards in a group setting to demonstrate their understanding of math skills.
