Ward Melville High School’s HOSA club participated in the 2019 Northwell Health’s Spark! Challenge to gain a better understanding of the various STEM careers in the medical field.

During the event, the students met and spent the day with the health and safety coordinator at Northwell Health. They learned just what that job entails and how this coordinator needs to work with many different departments in the medical field to make the business of health care run smoothly for staff, families and patients combined. The safety coordinator works with the environmental administrator, the physician’s assistant, and the lab technician specialist, training them to help provide the best possible care for everyone.

Before concluding the day, the students met with their peers from all over Long Island to learn about the different career opportunities available to them and network about their similar interests.
