Detective Sgt. James Johnson of the Suffolk County Police Department recently visited Ward Melville High School to speak with students in Ms. Stringer’s Criminal Justice Honors classes. His presentation offered an eye-opening look into the realities of human trafficking, a crime that affects countless individuals around the world.
During his visit, Detective Sgt. Johnson explained what human trafficking is, how it impacts victims and the investigative steps law enforcement takes to combat it. Students were given a firsthand look at the challenges officers face in identifying and stopping traffickers, as well as the crucial role that education and public awareness play in prevention.
The visit provided students with valuable insight into the complexities of this global issue and reinforced the importance of informed, community-based efforts in fighting human trafficking.
