On May 15, fourth graders from Ms. Toner’s class at Nassakeag Elementary School showcased remarkable mathematical talent at the Suffolk County Virtual Math Tournament. Competing against approximately 350 students from over 48 schools across the county, Nassakeag students stood out for their analytical thinking and teamwork.
The tournament, known for its rigor, featured both individual and team challenges with Math Olympiad-level questions designed to test critical thinking and problem-solving skills. Awards were presented to the top 10 individual scorers and the top five teams in each grade level.

Team B, consisting of Roopavi Davuluri, Albert He, Abhay Pisharody, Zayd Rana and Anand Venkatesh, earned first place, while Team A, made up of Anrui Jiang, Rithvik Kanagal, Peter Liu, Emma Luo and Iris Yang, secured second place.
In the individual category, five Nassakeag students ranked among the top 10 scorers:
* 1st Place: Peter Liu.
* 2nd Place: Albert He.
* 5th Place: Abhay Pisharody.
* 6th Place: Anand Venkatesh.
* 9th Place: Rithvik Kanagal.
These impressive results are a testament to the students’ hard work, persistence and strong mathematical understanding. Congratulations to all participants for their outstanding achievements and for representing Nassakeag with excellence in mathematics.
