Fifth grade students from Nassakeag Elementary recently wrapped up the school year with an unforgettable adventure at Long Island Adventure Park. The trip was more than just a day of outdoor fun – it was a chance for students to put their social-emotional learning (SEL) skills into practice.
As they climbed ropes, crossed shaky bridges and zipped through the treetops, students demonstrated courage, perseverance and teamwork. Some faced their fears with calming self-talk and deep breaths, while others offered steady hands and words of encouragement to friends in need. Through every challenge, the students lifted one another up – literally and figuratively.
The experience served as both a celebration and a send-off, marking their transition to middle school. By embracing new challenges and supporting one another, these young learners proved that strength comes not just from skill, but from a positive mindset and a caring heart.
