Summer 2010

Dear Parents,

Now that the school year has come to a close, I would like to take this time to reflect on the 2009-2010 school year.

In addition to all of the wonderful things that occurred within each classroom, there were also many school wide events that positively impacted our students.

Our PTA once again worked tirelessly to provide enriching cultural arts presentations and fun family events for our students.  The Lip Sync event was a great showcase for our very talented students.    Each grade also was treated to several high quality cultural arts presentations, such as, “Bash the Trash” and programs with singer John Farrell, story teller Heather Forest and song writer Susan Trump.  The Summer Kick-Off was a fun family event to end the school year.

Our Shared-Decision Making Team with support from the PTA sponsored our first Multi-Cultural Celebration which featured a variety of exhibits and performances in appreciation of our diverse school community.   Our second annual Career Day was also a huge success.  Students were able to learn first hand about a variety of interesting and fulfilling careers.

There were class plays and performances that informed about civil rights, Colonial times, fairy tales, Thanksgiving, Mother’s Day and the seasons of the year.

Our students also gave back to the community through an impressive list of community service activities.  They read books to raise money for Haitian earthquake assistance, they donated money and goods to The Ronald McDonald House,  performed concerts for veterans, invited senior citizens to “Game Day”, collected food for a local food pantry and donated coats, toys and toiletries for local shelters in need of assistance.

We thank you for your continued support of our school. We know all these programs and extra-curricular activities would not be possible without your support.

Placement information will be available for students entering first through sixth grade via the parent portal sometime during the third week of August.  We hope that you have an enjoyable, safe summer.

Sincerely,

Gail Casciano
