General District FAQ

Q: Will teachers be checking and answering emails daily?
A: Yes, teachers are checking their emails. The frequency depends on the needs of the students.

Q: The current deadlines for National Junior Honor Society and National Honor Society are the end of March. Will the dates be pushed out?
A: The dates for all events and inductions will certainly be rescheduled. The exact dates are to be determined based upon our exact return.

Q: If students who had volunteer opportunities set up for the month of March, and are now cancelled, resulting in not enough hours, what do they do?
A: We will adjust the requirements for volunteer work accordingly.

Q: Has the deadline for the PVSA applications been changed?
A: Yes, the new due date for PVSA applications is 4/10. Packets should be emailed to the PTA/PTO building chairperson. Please direct any questions or concerns to your chairperson or to Brian Pickford at bpickfor@3villagecsd.org.

Q: What if I didn’t get all the required signatures prior to social distancing measures?
A: An email from the certifying organization is acceptable in lieu of a signature. If you are, for whatever reason, unable to gather an email verification please email Brian Pickford.

Q: Will the district lose April break?
A: Given the Governor’s Executive Orders we are to work through this period of time and we will certainly abide by this directive; however, we remain respectful to the days of religious observance and ask your understanding and flexibility of assignments and classwork for our families, students, and staff, who will observe these days during what was our intended spring break.

Q: Will students go to school past the current last day of school in June?
A: Although the Governor has provided information about the 180-day requirement, there are still many unknowns with regard to the school calendar determination for the remainder of this school year. Although we are scheduled to return to school on April 15th, the daily changes to the situation prevent us from making any definitive statements with regard to this inquiry, at this time.

Q: Overall concern and curiosity of how teachers will communicate with students regarding assignments, new material, testing, etc.
A: Teachers will communicate with parents and students via Google Classroom and email at the elementary level. At the secondary level, communication will be through Google Classroom, Moodle and district email. Lessons will be posted for one week beginning on each Monday.

ELEMENTARY

On Friday, March 13, 2020, elementary students received remote learning packets which provided work for three weeks. Electronic versions of the Elementary Remote Learning Packets are available in Infinite Campus. Click here to access the Educational Services page on the district website. Hardcopy packets were also available for students who did not receive a packet or if the packet they received was incomplete. The packets were available at the North Country Administrative Center from 10 am to 2 pm from Monday, March 16 until Friday, March 20, 2020.

Elementary students will begin receiving remote instruction through Google Classroom during the week of March 30, 2020. General education teachers will post interactive activities in Google Classroom that are concentrated in math, reading, science, social studies, and writing. Special areas (art, health, music, and physical education) will also use Google Classroom to provide instruction.
