Upcycling Materials to Invent New Projects

Upcycling Materials to Invent New Projects photo

W.S. Mount Elementary School third grade students helped to demonstrate the familiar saying of “one man’s trash is another person’s treasure” when they invented creative projects using recycled materials.

From paper towel rolls, plastic water bottles, discarded wood and a multitude of other materials, the students created such items as a piggy bank out of milk jugs, a basketball net out of a plant container and even a mailbox using a detergent container.

The classes proudly displayed their completed projects in a hallway museum and wrote a descriptive overview of their project to explain their piece.
