To help bring a love of music to the youngest students in her local community, Ward Melville High School student Clara Rosenzweig recently facilitated the donation of a “Play Me, I’m Yours” piano to the Three Village Central School District’s pre-K program.

Housed at Nassakeag Elementary School, the district’s program was a new addition for the 2017-18 school year and is attended by more than 100 students from the community. The new piano will allow for more opportunities for teachers to incorporate music into the curriculum.

To help personalize the instrument, which was donated to Clara from the Johnson family, each student in the program was invited to help paint the exterior of the piano using their handprints. The completed project was unveiled to the students during a special ceremony, which several local elected officials attended to present Clara with proclamations celebrating her efforts and thoughtfulness.
Clara’s efforts were part of her work toward obtaining the Girl Scout Gold Award, the highest honor given by the organization.
