The Three Village Central School District kicked off Red Ribbon Week on Oct. 23. Red Ribbon Week is a drug prevention campaign that takes place at schools across the United States.

To start the week, sixth graders visited Ward Melville High School where they participated in an assembly with Tim Shoemaker, a nationally recognized educator and speaker. Shoemaker spoke with students about the dangers of vaping and its long-term consequences.

Additionally, district social worker Alison Herrschaft visited Gelinas and Murphy Junior High Schools to have students sign an anti-drug pledge. Students pledged to make healthy lifestyle choices and stay drug-free. Ms. Herrschaft also handed out red ribbon pins for students to wear to help spread the message of the week.
