Students at Nassakeag Elementary School learned all about school bus safety and positive bus behaviors. Ahead of National School Bus Safety Week, which runs from Oct. 16-20, bus drivers from Suffolk Transportation Services pushed into classes for brief presentations. Students watched animations to help understand where to stand while waiting for the bus and how to safely cross the street after getting off the bus. They also learned about steps to take in case of an emergency, the importance of wearing a seatbelt and general rules while on the road.

Additionally, Nassakeag held its Bus CARES assembly on Sept. 29. Sixth grade student ambassadors presented skits to model positive bus behavior and reviewed the building’s CARES motto – being caring, accepting, respectful, embracing and successful.
