Students taking French with Ms. Rendon at Murphy Junior High School set high hopes for the school year during an activity. “Cette année j'espère” – or “This year, I hope…” was posted on a bulletin board in the classroom. Students wrote down their wishes and goals, in French, and displayed their responses with Post-it notes. Many hoped for good grades, a focus on academics and to make new friends.
