Fifth graders at Setauket Elementary School stepped outside of the
classroom for a unique learning experience. As part of their ecosystem
studies, students went on a walking field trip to Frank Melville Pond to
observe native species of plants and trees. The fifth graders explored
the area and documented their observations. Back at school, they used
their observations to create food chain models with voice recordings to
explain what they learned.
