Dear Parents,
Murphy, Gelinas, and Ward Melville Schools will be offering sports physicals for any student who wants to have a physical completed for next school year. All students need a valid physical to play sports, but you can always provide a physical from your child’s doctor. Students do not have to have their physicals performed here in the District to play sports, but we like to offer this option to our students. If you wish to have your child’s physical completed in the District, please see the information below.
Thursday May 11th- Murphy @ 2:30 in the Murphy Health office
Tuesday May 16th – Gelinas @ 2:30 in the Gelinas Health office
Tuesday May 23rd - Ward Melville @ 2:00 in the Ward Melville Health office
Current 6th graders may go to their perspective junior high schools after their school day has ended.
Current 7, 8, and 9th graders can stay at their perspective junior high schools
Current 10 and 11th graders can have their physicals completed at Ward Melville HS.
All students must a bring a completed and signed consent form to be seen by our school doctor. The consent form is attached and available on our athletic website as well.
In an effort to make the physicals run smoothly and as quick as possible, we encourage students to get “pre-screened” by their current school nurse during the school day prior to the physical. Pre-screening involves vitals – blood pressure, pulse, respiration rate, height, weight, BMI, hearing, and vision. Students do not have to be pre-screened prior to their physical, but it helps speed up the physical process for us.
If you have any questions, feel free to contact your child’s nurse or the Athletic Office.
Thank you,
Kevin Finnerty
