Students learned all about how to keep themselves safe while riding the school bus, thanks to Suffolk Transportation Services. During National School Bus Safety Week, which ran from Oct. 17-21, bus drivers visited classrooms for brief presentations.

At Arrowhead Elementary School, students watched brief animations about where to stand while waiting for the bus and how to cross the street after getting off the bus. They also learned about buckling up, the school bus rules and steps to take in case of an emergency. After the classroom presentation, students went outside and got on a school bus to practice safely entering and exiting and buckling their seatbelts.

National School Bus Safety Week aims to educate entire school communities about the rules of the road surrounding bus safety.
