Through her involvement in Ward Melville High School’s Health Occupations Students of America (HOSA) Club junior Ava Tam recently won a $500 gift card for her participation in the Northwell Health Spark! Challenge.

The Spark! Challenge is a yearly event where hundreds of students join Northwell teams who introduce students to some of the many career areas in the medical field that require competencies in STEM. Following this year’s virtual event, students were tasked with creating either a poster or video which represented one of the careers they had learned about throughout the day. Ava was selected for the Top Media Award for her poster design which highlighted careers as a clinical research coordinator.

Additionally, Ava was elected president of the HOSA Club next year.
