In honor of Flag Day, W.S. Mount Elementary School hosted four small, socially distanced ceremonies on June 14 to celebrate the stars and stripes. Students and staff wore patriotic colors and creative hats, helping to honor this symbol of the United States.

After a brief address from building principal Rosanne DiBella, members of the Girl Scouts and Boy Scouts helped building staff members and veterans Specialist Fourth-Class Joseph Fortunato and Senior Master Sergeant Ed Metcaff raise the flag. Recorded performances by the school’s chorus, band and orchestra were streamed throughout the event, and the winners of this year’s Flag Day Essay Contest individually recited their pieces before being presented with a commemorative American flag.
