SUMMER DRIVER EDUCATION INFORMATION

 

 Registration Dates: Incoming Seniors - June 1 / Incoming Juniors & Seniors - June 2

Registration time and information will be posted and sent home prior to June 1.

 

This is a virtual class using the student’s Three Village Google Classroom account. In order to register, students must be a senior or junior and at least sixteen years of age.

Students must have a valid learner’s permit by the first class.

 

Date Course Begins:  The Course will begin on Tuesday, June 28th and will run three days a week (Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday) for sixteen sessions with the final given during the last class.

Cost:  $250.00

In order to obtain the Student Certificate of Completion (MV-285):

You must complete 48 hours of the program:

 

  • Twenty-four (24) hours of Google Classroom instruction, plus the final exam that takes place during the last lecture class.
  • A minimum of twenty-four (24) clock hours of laboratory instruction is required.
  • Laboratory instruction must include a minimum of six (6) clock hours of behind-the-wheel driving and a minimum of six (6) clock hours of in-car observation, with a licensed parent or guardian.
  • The remaining twelve (12) hours of laboratory instruction may include a combination of additional behind the-wheel instruction and in-car observation.
  • All students must login on time and be visible and present for the entire Google Meet Class.
  • You must pass both portions of the program with a minimum grade of 65.
  • All assignments must be completed.
  • All students must take and pass the final exam.

 

******Attendance******

Students must attend ALL 16 lectures plus the final exam.  Students must login on time and be visible and present for the entire Google Meet Class. Please note: Students can miss up to three (3) lectures, HOWEVER, any missed classes must be made up so that all 24 hours of the lecture requirement are completed.  Students will sign up for make-up classes in the stream on Google Classroom. Missing more classes than permitted will result in the student being automatically dropped from the program without a refund.

******Driving Information******

 

Students must complete the 24 hours of in-vehicle instruction under the supervision of a parent/guardian holding a valid NY State Driver’s License.  

Parents/guardians will be provided with a specific and detailed overview of materials to be covered as well as a parent/student driving log where the parent/guardian will document and attest to the completion of 24 hours of in-vehicle instruction, observation, and applied practice during the duration of the class (6/29/22-8/3/22)

 

******Pre-Licensing Course Completion Certificate******

Also known as the 5-hour certificate

The Pre-Licensing Course Completion Certificate (5 Hour Certificate) is available to the student after the seventh class. This certificate allows the student to schedule their road test. The student must meet with the Instructor in person (adhering to social distancing guidelines) to receive this certificate. Students wishing to obtain this certificate must sign up for an appointment on google classroom.

 

The dates for the 5-Hour Certificates are to be determined.

2022 SPRING SCHEDULE AND REGISTRATION INFORMATION

This is a virtual class through google classroom. In order to register, students must be a senior or junior and at least sixteen years of age.  Students must have a valid learner’s permit by the first day of class.

Date Course Begins:  Wednesday classes begin February 9, 2022 and ends June 15, 2022. Thursday classes begin February 10, 2022 and ends June 16, 2022

Cost:  $250.00 – After submitting your registration, you will see a confirmation that it was received. The following week, our office will send out payment instructions.

Make-Up Dates

Please note: Students must sign-up for make-ups by contacting the driver instructor.

 

Please be advised: The FALL & SPRING Driver Education Courses will conflict with any FALL & SPRING sport. Student-athletes are not permitted to take this course during their sports seasons as it is a conflict with practices and contests.

                                                                    

Below are the requirements and procedures that must be followed for you to receive your Student Certificate of Completion (MV-285).

  • You must complete the 48 hours of the program.
    • 24 hours of classroom instruction, plus the final exam during your child’s regularly scheduled lecture time
    • 24 hours of in-car instruction (18 hours of observation and 6 hours behind the wheel) under a licensed parent verifying hours, dates, and completions of tasks.  Please see driving log and regulations provided by teacher.  
  • You must pass both portions of the program with a minimum grade of 65
  • All homework, tests, reports that may be required must be completed.
  • All students must take and pass the final exam.

IMPORTANT LECTURE INFORMATION

  • YOU CAN MAKE UP NO MORE THAN 3 LECTURE CLASSES. ANY MISSED CLASSES MUST BE MADE UP.  IN ORDER TO PASS THE CLASS, ALL STUDENTS MUST ATTEND 16 LECTURES PLUS THE FINAL EXAM.
  • DURING YOUR GOOGLE CLASSROOM LECTURE, CAMERA MUST BE TURNED ON.  IN ORDER FOR THE ATTENDANCE TO COUNT, THE STUDENT MUST BE VISIBLE TO THE INSTRUCTOR.
  • MISSING MORE CLASSES THAN PERMITTED WILL RESULT IN THE STUDENT BEING AUTOMATICALLY DROPPED FROM THE PROGRAM WITHOUT A REFUND
  • WE WILL PROVIDE MAKEUP DATE OPTIONS (to be determined).  A STUDENT CAN MISS AND MAKE UP NO MORE THAN 3.
  • IF CLASS IS CANCELED FOR ANY REASON, AN ANNOUNCEMENT WILL BE POSTED ON THE DISTRICT WEBSITE AND A MAKE-UP DATE WILL BE SCHEDULED FOR THAT CLASS.
  • AFTER ENOUGH MATERIAL IS COVERED (AFTER APPROXIMATELY 8 CLASSES) THE STUDENTS WILL HAVE THE OPTION OF RECEIVING THEIR PRE-LICENSING "5 HOUR COURSE" COMPLETION CERTIFICATE. THIS CERTIFICATE WILL ENABLE THE STUDENT TO SCHEDULE THEIR ROAD TEST. IF THEY PASS THEIR ROAD TEST AND THEY ARE UNDER THE AGE OF 18, THIS WILL GIVE THEM A JUNIOR LICENSE. IN ORDER TO RECEIVE A SENIOR LICENSE, THE STUDENT MUST COMPLETE DRIVER EDUCATION AND/OR BE AT LEAST 18 YEARS OF AGE HAVING PASSED THEIR ROAD TEST.
