Congratulations to Swimming /Track -State Qualifiers  :

Swimming-Congratulations to David He, Ryan Kaplan Cameron  Kubik and Luka Zurik who competed at the New York State swimming and diving meet this past weekend in Nassau County. The boys set new school records in the 200 yard medley relay and 400 yard freestyle relays over the weekend. The 400 yard freestyle relay finished second in the state, while the medley relay finished fifth. In addition, David He set a new school in the 200 yard individual medley while Luka Zuric set new individual Records in the 200 yard freestyle and 100 yard backstroke. 

Boys Track -Danny Ryan finished 16th in his first individual race at the state meet. His second overall state meet in his third best time ever 2:35.3. 

Eric Zulkofske anchored section XI's intersectional relay against the other 12 sections. Eric got the baton with about a three second lead and ran his mile leg in 4 minutes and 22 seconds. He had the fastest split of the race by 5 seconds and lead section XI to a meet record of 8:44 and a dominant 9 second win in his first trip to states. 

Girls track - The 4 x 800m relay team of Samantha Sturgess, Samantha Rutt, Shannon Ryan and Allyson Gaedje ran an inspired and gutsy race to finish 4th in the NYSPHSAA State Championships and 5th in the NYS Federation Championship meet this past weekend at the Ocean Breeze facility in Staten Island.  The four runners will be joining ten of their teammates as they take on the best in the Nation, competing in five relays at the New Balance Indoor Nationals held at the Armory this upcoming weekend.  All fourteen student-athletes look to carry on their success one last time this indoor season

 

Congratulations!

Eddie Munoz, Dominick Pryor and John Corpac all outstanding wide receivers for the Ward Melville FB Team this past fall have been  selected to play in the 22nd Annual Empire Challenge!  Long Island and New York City all-stars will battle on the gridiron at the James M. Shuart Stadium at Hofstra University at 7:00 pm on Wednesday June 21, 2017.  Come out and support the boys!

for taking 4th place at the National High School Cheerleading Championship - the most prestigious cheerleading championship in the country!  The highest finish in our program's history!

As of September 1st all physical paperwork for any season during the 2016-17 school year must be dropped off to the Health Office in the student athletes respective school.

INFORMATION FOR INCOMING 9TH GRADE ATHLETESUNLIKE MIDDLE SCHOOL, FALL HIGH SCHOOL SPORTS START AUGUST 14TH FOR FOOTBALL AND AUGUST 21st FOR THE REST OF FALL SPORTS.  ALL INCOMING 9TH GRADERS PARTICIPATING IN A SPORT (FALL, WINTER, SPRING SEASONS) REPORT TO WARD MELVILLE FOR ATHLETIC PARTICIPATION.  9TH GRADE ATHLETES TAKE THE SHUTTLE BUS FROM MURPHY OR GELINAS TO WARD MELVILLE AT THE END OF THE SCHOOL DAY.  LATE BUSES TAKE THEM HOME FROM WARD MELVILLE; THEY ARE NOT SHUTTLED BACK TO THE JUNIOR HIGH SCHOOL

 

If parents or guardians of incoming 7th graders missed the JHS Athletic Orientation presentation on 5/9/16 please click on the links to the left for information on Sport Clearance (paperwork), concussion protocol, and code of conduct. The Fall season starts 9/8/16. Clearance paperwork can be handed in to the Health office at Murphy or Gelinas at any time during the school year or to the Athletic Office at WMHS during the summer

The "Medical Update" form can only be handed in 30 days or less before sport start date.
