(3/28) Congratulations to the WMHS Model Congress. Sixteen members of the club participated at Columbia University Model Congress. Delegations came from Long Island, New York City, and elsewhere in the state.
Each student was required to draft a bill in formal congressional format and introduce their own bill to the committee on which they served.
This was only the beginning because each student had to field questions, consider comprises, participate under the rules of parliamentary procedure, and above all observe civility.
They indeed, learned that politics is "the art of the possible."
At the end of the session, four members had the distinction of shepherding their bills through committee:
Michael Arato, Jillian Fitzpatrick, Erin Fitzpatrick & Stephen Karp.
