P.J. Gelinas Junior High School Principal William Bernhard has earned one of the most prestigious honors in higher education from the New York State SUNY Chancellor and President of Stony Brook University – the Chancellor’s Award for Excellence in Adjunct Teaching for the academic year 2016-17.

This award recognizes those Stony Brook University faculty members – at which Mr. Bernhard has taught for numerous years – who have consistently demonstrated a mastery of teaching, a dedication to students, the adherence to the highest academic standards, and continued professional achievements.

“To have been nominated for the SUNY Chancellor's Excellence in Teaching award by both the Mathematics Department and Applied Mathematics and Statistics Department at Stony Brook University is truly an honor,” said Mr. Bernhard. “To have actually received this recognition is a highlight of my career. Teaching and learning is my passion and I hope to continue to convey that to all of the students and staff that I work with in the Three Village Community."
