Firefighters Speaking to Students thumbnail223884

Students in the Three Village Central School District got a lesson in fire safety from professionals this summer. Members of the Setauket Fire Department visited Arrowhead Elementary School to show off some of its response vehicles and teach students about what to do in case of an emergency.

Firefighters and EMS workers first gave students a brief presentation in the auditorium. They encouraged students to call 9-1-1 in an emergency situation and discussed the importance of at-home exit drills. Additionally, the department went over protocols for fire drills in school. One firefighter suited up in all of his gear to show students what a firefighter looks like when responding to an emergency.

Following the presentation, students went outside to see a fire truck and ambulance. They went inside the vehicles and checked out the equipment first responders use. The visit from the Setauket Fire Department taught students about fire safety while also teaching them about community.
