Notice regarding district emergency drills

As part of our continued efforts to prepare for a potential emergency situation within our schools, the district will continue to conduct lockdown drills throughout the school year. It is important for parents to note that, as the majority of these drills will be unannounced, prior notice will often not be provided. It is critical to our efforts in assessing our security systems and emergency preparedness that these drills best simulate the spontaneity of an actual emergency situation so that our students and staff can better familiarize themselves with the roles they are expected to play. Of course, in the case of an actual emergency, we will maintain an open line of communication with our parents/community and provide up-to-date information as it becomes available.

We ask for your continued support and understanding of the necessity for these drills and the procedures surrounding them. For more information about our current security plans and planned future enhancements, please see the following, which was shared by Board President Dr. Jeffrey Kerman during the district's Jan. 8 Board of Education meeting. Thank you.
