Ward Melville High School’s chamber orchestra recently collaborated with the William Floyd High School’s chamber orchestra for an afternoon workshop centered on music and cultural exchange.
To help welcome the visitors, each Ward Melville student was paired with a William Floyd student during the event and shared a music stand while rehearsing. The two groups, comprised of 62 student-musicians, studied four different pieces of music during the workshop. Throughout the event, the pairs enjoyed learning about each other’s shared passion for music, the types of pieces they have performed and different techniques for performance.
The program ended with an impromptu concert for family and friends in the Ward Melville High School auditorium.
