As a result of their performance and skills, R.C. Murphy Junior High School’s Science Bowl team No. 1 came in second place during the Long Island Regional Middle School Science Bowl Competition held at the U.S. Department of Energy’s Brookhaven National Laboratory this past March.

Each year, BNL hosts the competition, which challenges students to answer questions on specific topics in astronomy, biology, chemistry, mathematics, physics, earth science, computer science and general science. The competition includes a round robin followed by a single elimination final. A total of 12 teams from across Long Island competed in this year’s contest, and Murphy was represented by two teams.

The Three Village Central School District congratulates both Murphy teams, along with their coach Patrick McManus, on their accomplishments.
