R.C. Murphy Junior High School ninth-grade students explored a multitude of career paths with the help of a team of volunteers during this year’s Career Awareness Day, held in the school’s gymnasium in early November.

During the event, students attended an interviewing seminar with Assistant Superintendent for Human Resources Dr. Gary B. Dabrusky and Executive Director of Secondary Curriculum and Human Resources Dr. Alan Baum before touring a number of booths spotlighting different professions. Organized by family and consumer science teachers Virginia Ferraro and Emma Domino, the program featured careers in law enforcement, security, engineering, banking, construction, journalism and more. Students were able to ask volunteers about the educational requirements of their jobs, what a typical day looks like and any skills necessary to be successful in that particular business.
