W.S. Mount Elementary School kindergarten students in Dawn McNally’s class recently hosted a Charity Writing Celebration to showcase the informational “how to” books they penned with other classes and parents.
The students began the day by reading their stories to the school’s fifth- and sixth-grade classes, before sharing them with special guests.
In addition to sharing their stories, the students also showcased their artistic talents during the celebration. The students made over 200 bookmarks, which they sold at the celebration for a dollar each. As a result of the generosity of the attendees, the class raised $650 for The Fred Rogers Center.
“Fred Rogers has greatly influenced my life as a parent as well as an educator, and I am honored to have made a connection with an organization that is continuing his important work,” Ms. McNally said.
