As a result of its project on polychiral multi-walled carbon nanotube solar cells, a team of Ward Melville High School students has been named a first-place winner in the Toshiba and National Science Teachers Association-sponsored ExploraVision competition.

The Three Village Central School District congratulates team members Kian Abbott, Jeffrey Casey, Darren Tung, Abhinav Yadav and teacher James Dornicik for winning the national prize.

The students will be traveling to Washington, D.C., to be recognized for their outstanding accomplishment and to receive their awards. Their project was named best by a national team of judges consisting of scientists from the Food and Drug Administration, NASA, National Institutes of Health, National Science Foundation and others for creativity, scientific accuracy, communication and feasibility of vision.
