As a culminating activity to their study on Vincent Van Gogh, Minnesauke Elementary School kindergarten students created a Starry Night STEAM project inspired by the famous artist.

The students learned facts about Van Gogh and his painting techniques as well as how circuits work and the technology behind creating a “touch board.” The students used their talents to create a painting based on the Van Gogh painting while teacher Christine Sacco used conductive paint and a series of circuits to make the piece interactive.

When someone touched the stars or butterfly on the painting, they heard the students sharing facts, quotes or information about the project or a recording of Don Mclean’s song “Vincent.”
