As you are aware, we are experiencing a very difficult winter and the entre into spring has also been quite challenging. As a result of several days of inclement weather, the Three Village Central School District has had to cancel school on five days, the highest number for one school year in recent history.
By closing school for five days, the district has surpassed the three (3) allocated snow days noted in the school calendar, as well as the fourth “insurance” snow day. As a result, school will now be in session on Wednesday, March 28, Friday, May 25 and Tuesday, May 29 for full days of instruction. Additionally, school will also be open and in session for a half day on Thursday, March 29, 2018.
The Thursday dismissal schedule for each of our schools is as follows:
Ward Melville High School and the Academy - 10:37 am
Gelinas and Murphy Junior High Schools - 11:14 am
Minnesauke and Nassakeag Elementary Schools - 11:55 am
Arrowhead, Mount, and Setauket Elementary Schools - 12:40 pm
We recognize that the March 29 half make up day may affect your family’s vacation plans, as it falls at the beginning of our Spring Recess. Please note that while our schools must adhere to the district’s attendance polices on this date, we are going to exercise as much flexibility as is possible within mandated regulations.
Please note that on Thursday, March 29 there will be no student attendance for children enrolled in the district’s pre-kindergarten program.
If you have any questions specific to your child or situation, I encourage you to contact your school’s main office. Thank you in advance for your understanding.
My very best wishes to our entire school community for a very happy and healthy holiday and vacation.
