The Three Village Central School District Board of Education took time during its Dec. 13 meeting to celebrate and honor the achievements of several Ward Melville High School students.

John Ninia was commended for earning 137 merit badges from the Boy Scouts of America and for earning the William T. Hornaday bronze medal for exceptional conservation projects. 

In addition, several student-athletes were celebrated for their postseason play this fall. Eric Zulkofske was honored for being a 2017 state qualifier in boys cross country, Grace O’Sullivan was honored for being a 2017-18 state qualifier in girls gymnastics, and Denise Lai was congratulated for being a 2017 state qualifier in varsity girls tennis. Furthermore, varsity girls swimming team member Victoria Bogdanski was commended for being a 2017 state qualifier in the 200m medley; Sydney Boals was honored for being a 2017 state qualifier in the 100m freestyle, 200m medley and 400m freestyle relay; Kaitlyn Ehlers was recognized for being a 2017 state qualifier in the 200m medley and 400m freestyle; and Riley Gavigan was honored for being a 2017 state qualifier in the 200m individual medley, 100m breaststroke, 400m freestyle relay and 200m medley. Lastly, the New York State championship varsity field hockey team was commended for its terrific season.
