Two Ward Melville High School art students received top honors during this year’s Journalism Education Association's student design write-off competition.

Lauren Berlinghof received a Superior rating for her logo design and Cecilia Orduna received an Excellent rating for her graphic layout design.

Both students created their work as part of their Advertising Practices and Applications class, during which they were given specific topics to design for. Lauren was tasked with designing a logo for the burger appreciation society, which had to work in color and black and white. Cecilia’s project was to design a spread for a sports team for a yearbook.
