As part of the Minnesauke Measures series, an initiative created by math center teacher Paul Wilgenkamp, Minnesauke Elementary School students are having fun learning about capacity in a hands-on way.

Using a capacity cart, which has containers for metric and customary capacity, students are estimating the amount of liquid in a larger container while at the same time beginning to recognize and identify the various capacities. Weekly, students are invited to write down their guess on a slip of paper and enter a contest to win bookmarks. One week alone, almost 600 students participated.
