Approximately 300 Ward Melville High School students learned about the dangers of distracted driving during a simulated Safety Town program provided by the Town of Brookhaven.

During the event, presenter Al Ferrari spoke with the students about the dangers of impaired and distracted driving and invited the attendees to take part in several hands-on engagement stations.

Participating in the simulation activities, the students were able to understand the importance of not being distracted while driving. They learned where to put their phone in the car while driving to avoid being tempted to look at it and used impairment goggles while driving go-carts, operated a diving video game and navigated miniature cars on sticks through a map to simulate the dangers of driving while under the influence of substances.
