Exploring Health Careers
As part of the Health Occupations Students of America club, Ward Melville High School students learned about healthcare professions as part of a multi-week workshop series this spring.
During a recent workshop, the students met with two professionals from the Long Island State Veterans Home at Stony Brook. During the interactive lecture, they learned about the opportunities available in the social services profession as well as the career path for a registered dietitian nutritionist. The speakers shared some insight into their chosen careers, academic background, professional path, current position, typical professional routine, challenges, and advice for students to successfully follow in a chosen profession.
