As a conclusion to their multi-week study of bears, kindergarten students in Dawn McNally’s class at W.S. Mount Elementary School celebrated the start of the spring season with a bear-themed brunch.
During the unit, the students learned about four types of bears – polar, black, panda and brown – as well as their habitats and their adaptations. Students were interested to learn about the bears’ different types of fur and the extra layer of blubber that protects them from the cold.
During the brunch, the students dressed as their favorite type of bear and feasted on items included in the traditional bear diet, including pretzel “twigs,” gold “fish,” berries, honey and apples.
