Sharing Messages of Hope

R.C. Murphy Junior High School seventh-grade students had the opportunity to learn about the inspiring Ride for Life movement and the disease at the center of the movement when ALS patient, Dr. Christopher Pendergast and former educator Glenn Baldwin conducted an inspiring assembly program.

During the assembly, the students got an overview of the illness and challenges that patients face. Additionally, Mr. Baldwin and Dr. Pendergast helped the students to apply the lessons learned from patients living with ALS to their own personal challenges. Students were encouraged to keep working at achieving their goals even when encountering difficulties.

The students also learned that this year marks the 20th anniversary of the Ride and, as such, participants will take their message across the eastern seaboard as they travel from Yankee Stadium to Washington D.C., arriving there on National Advocacy Day, May 14.
