Ready for Broadway

With the help of trained Broadway professionals, 150 members of the chorus, band and orchestra at P.J. Gelinas Junior High School had the opportunity to learn the behind-the-scenes tricks of a staged Broadway fight scene.

During the Broadway Stage Combat Workshop, the students learned from Broadway fight choreographers how stage combat works during a live performance. Then, they were fully engaged in a question and answer session with two ensemble members of the musical “School of Rock.”  One of the aspects discussed was the importance of preparing for an audition.

Following the workshop, the students attended a performance of “School of Rock” and, afterward, met with Three Village alumnus David Ruttura, who is currently working as the associate director of the musical.
