An inventive educational lesson created by P.J. Gelinas Junior High School art teacher Michael Sacco for his ninth-grade Media Arts 1 class is gaining national attention as it is highlighted in the February edition of the SchoolArts magazine.

The lesson focuses on Mr. Sacco’s use of Photoshop to teach students how to manipulate multiple layers of a photograph and incorporate text pages from published books to add depth and personal meaning. The project was inspired by the style used by British artist Tom Phillips.

In addition to the details about the lesson, the magazine also includes examples of the pieces Mr. Sacco’s students created.

The following students had their artwork featured in the magazine: Ryan Abbatiello, Natalia Fallon, Komal Grewal, Aidan Hopkins, Amy Lynch, Charlotte O'Dell, and Sabrina Verdecanna.
