A Week of Languages

A Week of Languages

R.C. Murphy Junior High School students and staff celebrated the beauty and culture of three world languages as they marked “Foreign Language Week.”

During the weeklong celebration, students participated in a trivia contest and a door decorating contest. A traveling art exhibit was on display in the hallways and music from different countries played  on the intercom between class times.

Additionally, members of the Foreign Language Honor Society hosted a series of events for the district’s elementary students. Cooking and culture classes were hosted and each one focused on either the Spanish, Italian or French language. Also, for the first time in over 15 years, the FLHS students visited with the sixth-graders at Nassakeag, Arrowhead and W.S. Mount elementary schools and presented lessons to introduce them to the foreign language options available for study at the junior high level.
