Board Ushers in New Year


The district’s Board of Education convened for its annual reorganization meeting on July 13 and commenced the night by celebrating several athletic accomplishments achieved during the 2015-16 school year.

Ward Melville High School’s boys varsity golf team was celebrated for earning back-to-back Suffolk County and Long Island Championships; the varsity girls track and field 4x400 relay team was honored for setting a new school record and qualifying for the state championship; and the boys lacrosse team was honored for winning the Suffolk County and Long Island Championship, as well as being a runner-up in the New York State Championship.

During the meeting, William F. Connors Jr., Irene Gische and Inger Germano were re-elected to serve as Board president, vice president and district clerk pro-tem, respectively. Board members Jonathan Kornreich and Angelique Ragolia were also officially sworn in and began to serve their new three-year terms of office.
