Honored Educator


Minnesauke Elementary School fifth-grade teacher Kate Hunter has been awarded the Margaret Simon Award for Excellence in Elementary Social Studies Education for 2016, given to an outstanding elementary school teacher by the Long Island Council for the Social Studies.

Nominated by the building principal, Dr. Brian Biscari and the Director for Social Studies Dr. Paul Gold, Ms. Hunter has been recognized by the organization for her strong commitment to and emphasis of social studies in the elementary classroom.

Ms. Hunter will be recognized at the Long Island Council for the Social Studies awards dinner in early June.
