World cultures and family heritages were on display during Nassakeag Elementary School’s Diversity Night, which was attended by more than 400 community members.

The annual event kicked off in the school’s auditorium with student performers, including talented kindergartners, first-graders and members of the Showtime Choir. On display in the cafeteria and gym were visual exhibits showcasing the diversity that exists within the school community. Volunteers shared food, arts and crafts, and presentations native to Germany, Norway, China, Columbia, Korea, Lithuania, Japan and England, to name a few. Parents and staff volunteered to create and hang displays.

This year’s event was chaired by sixth-grade teacher Judy Larsen. Members of the school’s Justice Club and student council were on hand to assist throughout the night, as were former Nassakeag students.
