Educational Oktoberfest

Arrowhead Elementary School kindergarten students celebrated the fall harvest during an interactive and educational Oktoberfest.

The event featured a number of workstations, each of which had a curriculum component connected to the activity. During the apple tasting and apple graphing sections, they used their five senses to identify which type was their favorite and charted their responses on large paper. They found star patterns in an apple stamping section and worked on artistic skills during a leaf rubbing activity. Mathematics skills were utilized as the students worked to estimate the number of objects in a jar. Cooperative learning skills were fostered as each class created a scarecrow to put on display in the classroom.

As a follow-up, the students completed writing activities on the types of apples they preferred the next day within their classrooms.
