In keeping with their commitment to learning, the Three Village Mock Trial team welcomed recently retired New York State Supreme Court Justice Peter Mayer to practice with them in February and to have authentic conversations about the criminal justice system.

During the workshop, Justice Mayer discussed criminal procedure, evidentiary issues and other important aspects of arguing a criminal case. Students spent time asking the justice challenging questions about their own case for 2020. Senior captain Maya Jamdar presented Justice Mayer with one of the team’s signature T-shirts at the end of practice and named him an honorary member.

The “mockers,” as the members of the team call themselves, are off to a great competition, with a 2-0 start, and are looking forward to the rest of the season.
